Circuit Court Files Index 1900-1937
There were a few files from the 1900-1937 era, that where mixed in with the 1831-1899 Files, I have placed them in separate Boxes and created a separate Index for them. Which can be viewed here, or in the Archives Research Room.
This Index of Court Records, mainly Circuit Court; but also a few Justice Court, Naturalization Papers, and such, that were mixed in with the Circuit Files.
On some of the files the handwriting, is quite elegant, but with this elegance, comes the problem of reading. Our best efforts have been made to give the correct spelling of names. If you do not see the name you are looking for, try using a different spelling, or reverse the first and last names.
There is a section in which no specific dates could be found.
The index is separated into Plaintiff and Defendant.
The section labeled Miscellaneous Files are paper such as Naturalization Papers.
There is a cross reference section for joint cases. Such as Allen & Smith – See also Smith & Allen.
Also an abbreviation chart to help you with abbreviations such as NO & NE RR Co. which is New Orleans & North East Railroad Co.
If you would like to view or make copies of theses files you can see them in the Archives Library. Let the staff know what file you would like to see. The Index designates which box each file is.
You an also view the index in the Archives Research Room in paper format.
